[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) will hold a reading club contest from January 28 to February 11 to promote the "Neighborhoods Reading City Geumcheon."
A reading club is a group of people who voluntarily gather to read books together, share opinions, and engage in discussions. Geumcheon-gu aims to spread local reading culture and encourage the establishment of a reading culture community through support for reading activities.
The support target is 70 reading clubs composed of at least five residents who can hold at least five reading meetings. Selected reading clubs can receive subsidies ranging from 300,000 to 450,000 KRW for book purchases, field experiences, and other reading activities.
Also, following last year, this year a "Leader Training Course" will be operated to strengthen the capabilities of leaders who will lead the reading club meetings, providing reading discussion consulting for qualitative growth of reading meetings.
Reading clubs wishing to participate can download the application form, business plan, and other application documents from the "Notices & Announcements" section on the Geumcheon-gu website, fill them out, and apply via email.
Based on the submitted business plans, Geumcheon-gu will select supported clubs through the Geumcheon-gu local subsidy review in March.
Mayor Yu Seong-hoon said, "Reading is the most convenient way to acquire knowledge, but if you only know it alone, it is easy to fall into dogmatism. I hope this reading club contest will be an opportunity for residents to read together, communicate with people, and grow themselves."
For more details, inquiries can be made to the Culture and Sports Division of Geumcheon-gu Office.
Dobong-gu (Mayor Lee Dong-jin) has decided to provide Dobong-type disaster relief funds to nine support targets, including unemployed youth, taxi drivers, and religious facilities.
The support targets include ▲village bus companies ▲daycare centers ▲local children's centers ▲elderly care facilities ▲closed small business owners ▲kindergartens ▲religious facilities ▲unemployed youth ▲individual and corporate taxi drivers, with support ranging from a minimum of 400,000 KRW to a maximum of 10 million KRW, totaling about 3.7 billion KRW.
The district is currently proceeding with practical procedures to pay as quickly as possible based on the results discussed at the Mayors' Council, and more detailed support criteria and periods will be announced through the Dobong-gu website.
This support was decided at the temporary meeting of the Seoul Mayors' Council held on the 21st, where 25 autonomous districts of Seoul united to address the blind spots of government and Seoul city disaster relief funds.
Mayor Lee Dong-jin of Dobong-gu said, "The difficulties of the people's economy continue due to COVID-19 and the extension of social distancing. We will do our best to prepare for the prompt payment of Dobong-type disaster relief funds to eliminate blind spots and alleviate difficulties even a little."
Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) is recruiting the 2nd generation of video content planning and production supporters, "Songsongpapa Creators," on its YouTube channel SongpaTV.
SongpaTV recently attracted attention by introducing the district's landmark Olympic Park through BTS Jin's "Super Tuna" challenge, gaining attention for creative and active district promotion.
The 2nd generation of "Songsongpapa Creators" will plan and produce video content promoting Songpa-gu, a city where culture, history, and nature coexist. The 1st generation produced a total of 55 videos on diverse themes such as a tour of three famous restaurants in Songridan-gil, a 21km bicycle trip on the Songpa Dulle-gil trail, Hanseong Baekje Cultural Festival tourism guidance, and Seokchon Lake ASMR, widely promoting Songpa-gu's charm to residents and the public.
Applicants interested in "Songsongpapa Creators" can apply regardless of their region. Qualifications include individuals or groups capable of planning, filming, and editing video content and proficient in using SNS. A total of five teams will be selected.
The application period is from February 9 to 11. Application forms can be downloaded by searching "2nd Songsongpapa Creator" on the Songpa-gu website. Completed application forms, business plans, and one portfolio video under five minutes produced by the applicant must be sent via email to the person in charge. The final announcement will be on February 16, and only successful applicants will be notified by text message.
The activity period is from mid-February to December 2022. Selected teams will produce about six videos during the activity period. A fixed activity fee will be paid per video, and awards will be given for outstanding works after the activity ends. Additional benefits include invitations to major events and festivals hosted by Songpa-gu.
Mayor Park Seong-su said, "We look forward to applications from talented individuals who can promote our district's charm with fresh and trendy content. We will further enhance Songpa residents' pride through advanced district promotion."
