"Yoon Also Has Many Criticisms... Only Attacking Kim Geon-hee"
Regarding the '86 Retirement Theory,' "Essential Measures Needed... Only Beating Around the Bush"

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Seul-gi] Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, pointed out that the reason why his approval ratings have stagnated while Yoon Seok-yeol, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, is showing an upward trend is because the Democratic Party has targeted the wrong subject for criticism.
On the 27th, Lee appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' and said, "Of course, family, spouse, and surrounding circumstances are important factors in evaluating and choosing a candidate, but the most important thing is the candidate himself."
Lee added, "Continuously attacking the people around him is not very effective. From our side, there are many criticisms regarding Yoon Seok-yeol's lack of experience and leadership to lead the government, as well as his content and past remarks. However, instead of focusing on that, attacking Yoon's spouse Kim Geon-hee excessively may lead to diminishing returns or even backfire."
He continued, "There are parts about Kim Geon-hee that require verification, but it should not outweigh the scrutiny of the candidate himself," emphasizing this point.
Regarding the internal party debate on the '86 generation retirement theory' (referring to those born in the 1960s who entered university in the 1980s) following Song Young-gil, the Democratic Party leader's announcement not to run in the general election, Lee criticized, "Applying a disinfectant to a burning foot won't help," and said, "We need to address the core issues instead of just making noise."
He questioned, "Will things change if we hold the entire 586 generation responsible? Of course, some people should be held accountable, but responsibility should be assigned carefully by distinguishing the good from the bad and considering the severity. Simply demanding vague responsibility will be difficult for those targeted to accept and may only escalate conflicts and lead to wasteful outcomes."
