[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 26th that it will accelerate the project by starting demolition work on buildings for which compensation negotiations have been completed, in relation to the 'Comprehensive Stadium Area Station District Convergence and Complex Development Project.'
Once the GTX-B line and the Western Metropolitan Express Railway (GTX-D) are completed, the Comprehensive Stadium Station will become a quadruple station district connecting the Sosa-Daegok Line and Line 7, making it the gateway and a key transportation hub of Bucheon.
The convergence and complex development project in the Comprehensive Stadium Station district, a key transportation hub, involves Bucheon City and LH investing 502.8 billion KRW in an area of approximately 490,000㎡ around the Comprehensive Stadium to create an R&D comprehensive center, complex cultural and sports facilities, and an eco-friendly residential complex with 1,533 households.
Additionally, due to changes in the surrounding environment such as the introduction of the quadruple station district and the need to consider various future elements post-COVID-19, a feasibility study for the long-term development plan of the Comprehensive Stadium Station district will be conducted.
The city plans to expand the scope of this study beyond the Comprehensive Stadium convergence and complex development project site to include other areas for a long-term station district development plan.
The city aims to complete land compensation by the end of this year and to sell public (Happy) housing units next year. The project completion is targeted for 2024.
A Bucheon City official stated, "Through this urban development project, we plan to foster the Comprehensive Stadium area as a hub for securing urban self-sufficiency functions and creating new growth engines, contributing to the balanced regional development of Bucheon."
Meanwhile, regarding rumors about the construction of rental apartments on the current Comprehensive Stadium site, the city clarified, "When the development plan was established in 2017, the land use was changed from natural green area to Type 2 general residential area to upgrade the Comprehensive Stadium by introducing convention and support facilities. There is no plan or concept for rental apartment construction as suggested by some media."
