[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] A Busan Metro Line 2 train derailed during a test run in the early morning of the 26th.
As a result of the accident, operations were suspended on some sections, causing expected traffic congestion during the morning commute.
According to the Busan Metropolitan Police Agency and Busan Transportation Corporation on the 26th, a train undergoing a test run derailed near Gumnam Station on Busan Metro Line 2 in the early morning. Consequently, train operations between Hwamyung Station and Sasang Station, covering 10 stations, will be suspended until recovery is completed.
Following the accident, the Transportation Corporation halted train operations in both directions between Hwamyung and Sasang and began emergency recovery work.
The recovery work is expected to be completed around 12 noon.
Accordingly, except for the suspended section on Busan Metro Line 2, trains will operate at 10-minute intervals between Jangsan Station and Sasang Station, and at 8-minute intervals between Hwamyung Station and Yangsan Station.
The Corporation requested passengers to use other public transportation such as buses, as operations have been suspended from the first train at 5:12 AM heading toward Jangsan. Additionally, to reduce inconvenience to citizens, charter buses will be operated until the track is restored.
