290,000 Units Delivered to All Schools in the Province by August This Year
On the 25th, the Gyeongnam Office of Education held a cooperation ceremony with the LG consortium to strengthen after-sales service for the rapid distribution of student smart devices and the establishment of a support center for post-management.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] On the 25th, the Gyeongnam Office of Education held a ceremony for the delivery of student smart devices with LG HelloVision consortium CEO Song Gu-young and BK Systems CEO Son Gyu-yeol, as well as a cooperation ceremony to strengthen AS for rapid distribution and the establishment of an after-sales service support center.
The Gyeongnam Office of Education aims to establish a foundation for a future-oriented education system by implementing a smart device distribution project so that learning can take place anytime and anywhere.
The distribution of student smart devices will begin at Mujigae Elementary School in Jinju and is scheduled to deliver a total of 290,000 units to all schools in the province by August. First, about 130,000 devices will be delivered to 3rd and 6th grade elementary students and 1st grade middle and high school students by February 28.
The Gyeongnam Office of Education will integrate the smart device integrated management support center it is building with the LG consortium’s AS direct support center into a single contact point. In addition, repairs, maintenance, and management of the devices will be conducted in a one-stop manner to increase service satisfaction and alleviate parents’ concerns.
Extra devices will be distributed to each school to ensure that there are no cases where students cannot use devices while repairs are being made. The smart devices to be distributed will restrict the installation of programs other than learning-related applications, such as games and harmful websites.
A smart device management tool (MDM) system will be installed and distributed, allowing the education office and schools to monitor usage and management in real time, including device location tracking and usage time limits, so that the devices are used only for learning.
The LG consortium has established a new AS direct support center that unites 103 related companies in the province for smart device management, operates a 365-day call center, and secures and provides related parts for maintenance of 290,000 units in cooperation with manufacturers.
Superintendent Park Jong-hoon said, “With the distribution of smart devices, the future digital education environment will be established first in Gyeongnam, creating an online and offline future education environment where students can study anytime and anywhere. We will spare no support so that teachers and students can focus on learning using smart devices.”
LG HelloVision CEO Song Gu-young said, “We will mobilize all corporate capabilities to provide the best service so that students do not experience any inconvenience in using smart devices.”
