Korea Railroad, 'Best' in Personal Information Management for 3 Consecutive Years

[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) has been recognized for excellence in personal information management.

KORAIL announced on the 25th that it received the "Good" grade (the highest grade) for the third consecutive year in the "2021 Personal Information Protection Management Level Diagnosis" conducted by the Personal Information Protection Commission.

The Personal Information Protection Management Level Diagnosis is conducted annually on 795 organizations, including central government ministries and affiliated public institutions.

The evaluation assesses the establishment of personal information management systems, protection measures, and breach incident countermeasures, and assigns grades such as Good (90 points), Average (80 points), and Poor (70 points).

As a result, KORAIL achieved a perfect score in 12 out of 13 evaluation indicators, earning a total score of 99.5 points (an increase of 0.21 points compared to the previous year).

In particular, it was evaluated for safely managing personal information amounting to 42 million records, including train passenger information, proving its excellence in personal information management capabilities.

KORAIL is currently planning to establish an "Integrated Personal Information Processing System Management Framework" capable of monitoring, tracking, identifying, and responding to abnormal activities to strengthen personal information protection.
