[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Suprema ID, a bio-digital ID solution specialist company, announced on the 25th that it has signed a supply contract for fingerprint recognition solutions for employee identity verification with the United States Postal Service (USPS) through a local partner.
The USPS plans to use Suprema ID products for employee identity verification tasks. Employing over 650,000 people, ranking after Walmart and Amazon in the US, the USPS is the largest government agency in the United States and exclusively performs domestic mail delivery services. It conducts identity verification not only for regular full-time employees but also for large-scale temporary hires during peak delivery periods such as Black Friday and Christmas, as well as for special demands like voter ballot supply. Accordingly, the USPS aims to reduce reliance on external identity verification services and build an in-house solution to improve operational efficiency.
In the US, where security and safety sensitivity is high, there is a growing attempt to implement identity verification systems for all employees in sectors such as education, healthcare, defense, and finance. Consequently, demand for solution providers is rapidly increasing. However, due to COVID-19, private identity verification solution providers in the US have faced difficulties in providing smooth services, causing challenges for institutions and companies seeking to build their own systems. This situation in the US, combined with Suprema ID’s long-standing efforts to enter the US market, led to the conclusion of this supply contract.
Park Bogeon, CEO of Suprema ID, stated, “Since supplying pilot project solutions in 2018, we have been providing identity verification solutions to US government agencies and financial sector clients together with our local partners,” adding, “We consider this contract as recognition of our product’s safety and technological capabilities by US government agencies. Based on this experience, we aim to accelerate the expansion of our market dominance in the growing US identity verification market.”
