[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Gyeonggi Province announced on the 25th that it will "expand the quality certification test service support items for small and medium-sized furniture companies in the province and provide support to strengthen competitiveness, such as new product development and marketing support."


This year, the province plans to expand the certification test items from the existing 141 to 150 and support KS certification, KC household goods safety certification, group standard certification, Public Procurement Service Nara Market eligibility evaluation tests, and tests for the emission of harmful environmental substances.


In particular, new testing equipment capable of analyzing hazards in children's furniture, which has been in high demand by companies, will be newly established.


For furniture companies struggling with the purchase and management of certification test equipment, contracts for the use of testing equipment with the certification center have been arranged to allow joint use of the equipment.


Additionally, with an investment of 600 million KRW, customized support will be provided from new product development to marketing for 20 domestic and foreign furniture companies in the province, including prototype (mold and mockup) production, catalog and video production, domestic and international media promotion, and online commerce establishment.


Jung Do-young, Director of Economic Planning, stated, "We plan to provide various corporate support services necessary for furniture companies to strengthen the competitiveness of small and medium-sized furniture companies in the province, such as the development of eco-friendly new furniture products."
