Musical 'Death Note' Opens in April... Cast Includes Hong Kwang-ho, Kim Junsu, and More

[Asia Economy Reporter Donghyun Choi] The musical 'Death Note' will open in April at the Chungmu Art Center Grand Theater in Jung-gu, Seoul.

The musical 'Death Note' is based on the Japanese manga of the same name and vividly depicts the intense battle of wits between the genius high school student 'Yagami Raito' and the brilliant detective 'L'. The trendy and pop-style numbers by Frank Wildhorn, which complement the thrilling conflict and confrontation between the two main characters, add synergy to the unpredictable storyline, delivering dramatic tension. Notably, this performance will be presented in a Non Replica version, featuring new sets and costumes.

Hong Kwang-ho and Go Eun-sung have been cast as 'Yagami Raito'. Hong Kwang-ho also played this role in the 2015 premiere of Death Note. Kim Junsu and Kim Sung-cheol will appear as 'L'. Kim Junsu participated in both the premiere and revival productions.

The Shinigami 'Rem', who gave the 'Death Note' to 'Amane Misa', will be portrayed by Kim Sun-young and Jang Eun-ah. Kim Sun-young, who won the Best Supporting Actress award at this year's 6th Korea Musical Awards, has showcased her powerful vocal ability and wide acting range in leading domestic productions such as the musicals 'Hadestown', 'Hope', and 'Rebecca'.

The eccentric Shinigami 'Ryuk' will be played by Kang Hong-seok and Seo Kyung-soo. Kang Hong-seok has performed in musicals such as 'Hadestown', 'Kinky Boots', and 'Elisabeth'. Idol singer K and Jang Min-je have been selected to play 'Amane Misa', who loves 'Yagami Raito'.

The musical 'Death Note' will be performed at the Chungmu Art Center Grand Theater from April 1 to June 26.
