Korean Teenager Arrested in Vietnam for Producing and Distributing Child Sexual Exploitation Material

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Min-young] A Korean teenage boy who was wanted by the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) on charges of receiving sexual photos and videos from girls and uploading them to a sexual exploitation site was reportedly arrested in Vietnam.

Vietnamese police arrested A (16) in Ho Chi Minh City at the end of last year and handed him over to Korean police, according to the local online media VN Express on the 22nd.

A is accused of approaching several underage Korean girls through Facebook in March to April last year, obtaining sexual photos and videos from them, and uploading these to a sexual exploitation site to generate profit. In July of the same year, A was placed on Interpol's wanted list for charges of producing and distributing child sexual exploitation materials.

After some victims' families became aware of this and reported it to Korean police, Vietnamese police were notified of the wanted status by Korean police in November of the same year.

Vietnamese police found out that A's parents lived in an apartment in southern Ho Chi Minh City, but A was not living with them.

However, police anticipated that A would visit his parents' home and, while lying in wait nearby, arrested A on December 19th last year as he got out of a taxi and was about to enter the apartment. A was handed over to Korean police around mid-December, two days after his arrest.
