[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province is set to conduct safety inspections on 821 structures, including bridges, within the province.
The Gyeonggi Provincial Construction Headquarters announced on the 23rd that this year it will carry out safety inspections on 821 road structures such as bridges and rivers located on nationally supported local roads (Gukjido) and local roads managed by Gyeonggi Province.
The inspections consist of ▲ "Regular inspections," mainly visual checks conducted in the first and second halves of the year ▲ "Detailed inspections," which involve selecting certain structures for on-site material testing and evaluating structural safety ▲ and "Detailed diagnoses" for two locations subject to regular inspections under the Facility Safety Act (Bongilcheon Bridge on Local Road 363 and Imwol Bridge on Local Road 359).
The inspection targets include 709 bridges, 28 tunnels, 58 cut slopes, 14 retaining walls, 7 underpasses, and 5 pedestrian overpasses.
There are 481 sites in southern Gyeonggi and 340 sites in northern Gyeonggi.
The Construction Headquarters will invest a total of 3.2 billion KRW in this inspection.
