[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-seop] Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, said on the 22nd, "If I lose, it seems I will be sent to prison for crimes I did not commit."
On the 22nd, during an impromptu speech on the path beside Seokchon Lake in Songpa-gu, Seoul, Lee stated, "The fear of the prosecution republic is not just the sound of passing wind but a reality confronting us."
Lee said, "Throughout my life, I have clashed with many vested interests and faced attacks, but I was not afraid," adding, "Now, I am afraid. I believe the prosecution is an organization that can overturn existing crimes and even fabricate crimes that do not exist."
He also criticized, "In reality, people who are innocent are being pressured and prosecuted indiscriminately, leading some to take extreme measures," and questioned, "Why do people keep leaving this world after being investigated by the special investigation unit?"
He continued, "The real rulers of this country are not politicians. They are hidden in the media, public officials, and corporations," and said, "These people spread fake news and dislike a fair and transparent world because their unjustly gained profits and positions are threatened."
Regarding Yoon Seok-youl, the candidate of the People Power Party, he said, "Let us not leave our fate to incompetent luck but respect the rational judgment of a capable leader," and asked, "Will we decide our destiny by casting dice and subjecting ourselves to the sorcery inflicted by someone else?"
Lee also stated, "Politics for specific forces, specific minorities, or specific individuals must be rejected," and questioned, "Shouldn't we practice unified politics that adopts good policies even if Hong Jun-pyo and Yoon Seok-youl advocate them?"
He appealed, "Let us protect the world we have truly worked hard to build, where human rights and people are respected. Let us choose a capable and rational good path, not an incompetent and wrong one."
