[Jeju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Jeongpil] Jeju Police Agency (Chief Go Gi-cheol) announced on the 21st that it will carry out a "Comprehensive Security Operation for the Lunar New Year Holiday" from the 24th of this month to the 2nd of next month to create a peaceful holiday atmosphere.
During this period, Jeju Police will establish an on-site full-force system to prepare for important situations such as maintaining an emergency contact system, and in response to the recently worsening "COVID-19" situation, they plan to actively respond to reports by strongly promoting joint inspections with local governments focusing on high-risk facilities such as entertainment bars.
Traffic management focusing on smooth flow will be conducted around public and port roads, traditional markets, and large marts, along with selective crackdowns on accident factors and traffic disorder behaviors, including round-the-clock drunk driving enforcement.
Additionally, utilizing big data platforms such as the National Police Agency's Big Data Platform and the Pre-CAS system, and analyzing 112 emergency calls over the past three years, patrols will be strengthened focusing on vulnerable times and locations.
In particular, through the activities of the recently launched Women's Violence Response T/F team, monitoring of households at risk of recurrence of domestic violence and abuse will be intensified, and even minor cases will be thoroughly reviewed for past records and additional offenses to focus on victim protection.
Linked with the operation of the "Special Criminal Activities for the Lunar New Year Holiday" during the holiday period, strict measures will be taken against burglary and stolen goods offenders targeting vacant houses during the holiday, and proactive and preventive criminal activities will be carried out to ensure that chronic and malicious violence does not threaten the daily lives of residents.
To respond to voice phishing, rapid initial measures will be taken to increase the possibility of damage recovery, and efforts will be made to prevent recidivism by suspending the use of means employed in the crimes.
A Jeju Police official said, "We will concentrate all the capabilities of Jeju Police on comprehensive security operations so that residents can spend a comfortable and safe Lunar New Year holiday."
