Gwangju Bank Donates 20 Million Won Scholarship to Gwangju Hanmaeum Scholarship Foundation


[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Gwangju Bank announced on the 21st that it delivered a scholarship of 20 million KRW to the Gwangju Hanmaeum Scholarship Foundation at the Gwangju District Prosecutors' Office to support the academic studies of underprivileged youth in the region.


The delivery ceremony was attended by Song Jong-wook, President of Gwangju Bank, Park Chan-ho, Chief Prosecutor of the Gwangju District Prosecutors' Office, and Choi Gap-ryeol, Director of the Gwangju Hanmaeum Scholarship Foundation. The scholarship will be awarded to youth under conditional suspension of indictment with guidance, exemplary youth facing financial difficulties, and others.


Song Jong-wook, President of Gwangju Bank, said, "Through this scholarship delivery, we hope that underprivileged youth in the region who face difficult circumstances will dream of a hopeful future," adding, "As the representative bank of Gwangju and Jeonnam, we will continue social contribution projects to support and guide the dreams of the youth, who are the future of our region."


Since 2018, Gwangju Bank has supported the Gwangju Hanmaeum Scholarship Foundation with a total of 80 million KRW in scholarships up to this year. In addition, through the Gwangju Bank Scholarship Association, it has provided scholarships worth approximately 3.3 billion KRW to about 4,000 local scholarship students.


Furthermore, through social contribution projects such as "Hope Blossoms Study Rooms" (currently selected up to the 67th branch) and "Hope Blossoms Dream Trees" (currently selected up to the 6th branch), continuous support is provided so that children and youth in the region can nurture their dreams despite difficult circumstances.


More than 80% of total recruits are allocated and selected from the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions, and by selecting university student ambassadors to provide workplace experience opportunities, Gwangju Bank is leading in hiring local talent and supporting local youth in various ways.
