[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Kim Jung-sook, the First Lady of South Korea, who is visiting Egypt with President Moon Jae-in, had a tea meeting with Intisar El-Sisi, the First Lady of Egypt, at the Egyptian Presidential Palace on the 20th.
First Lady El-Sisi introduced, "We are sponsoring the World Youth Forum held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, which gathers outstanding youth from around the world to serve as a bridge connecting their respective countries," and invited First Lady Kim Jung-sook to attend.
First Lady Kim expressed her gratitude for the invitation and said, "Ensuring that all youth safely complete their education and enter society is an important issue in Korea as well," adding, "We will explore how Korea can cooperate and contribute to the World Youth Forum."
First Lady El-Sisi mentioned, "Many Egyptian students study in the United States, and the international students say, 'Korean students, especially Korean female students, are very outstanding,'" to which First Lady Kim responded, "I am proud because Koreans studying abroad are very passionate and intelligent."
Additionally, First Lady El-Sisi extended another invitation, mentioning the creation of an 'Arts and Culture City' in Egypt's new administrative capital, and First Lady Kim expressed her thanks, saying, "Korean cultural content has been receiving much love in recent years."
First Lady Kim stated, "The actor from the drama 'Squid Game' won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor, Korean films have consecutively won major awards at international film festivals, and many K-pop groups, including BTS, are loved worldwide," emphasizing, "The government's efforts to support arts and culture itself are a great strength to the arts community and help develop their capabilities."
She continued, "Since Egypt is also making state-led efforts such as creating an Arts and Culture City, I expect it will become a global center for arts and culture in the near future."
