[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Ju Cheol-in] In Gyeongnam, incidents of female students being brutally gang-beaten by peers or alumni have occurred repeatedly.

The Gyeongnam Provincial Police Agency's Violent Crimes Unit announced on the 20th that they have sent three people in their 20s, including Mr. A, to the prosecution with a request for detention on charges including joint injury, and six teenagers including Ms. B to the prosecution without detention.

They are accused of assaulting and subjecting middle school student Ms. C, who was with them for about 17 hours from noon on Christmas Day last year, December 25, until 5 a.m. the next day, to cruel acts.

Gathered in a one-room apartment in Gimhae, Gyeongnam, from Christmas Eve, they conspired to assault Ms. C because she said something unpleasant.

They took turns beating Ms. C with their hands and blunt objects, forcibly fed her vinegar and cooking oil, and burned her face with cigarette burns, cruelly tormenting her. During this process, they forcibly removed her upper clothing, causing the victim shame.

They also staged a scene to justify their crime as self-defense by making Ms. C hold a weapon and act as if threatening them, then recorded it on a mobile phone.

The suspects are five men in their early 20s and four women aged 15 to 18. All of them and the victim were middle school alumni who knew each other.

In Jinju, a report was received that teenage female students confined a friend in a motel and assaulted her for an extended period, prompting police investigation.

According to the Jinju Police Station, on the 19th, a report was received that Ms. A (16) was gang-beaten by six friends for over four hours from 2:50 p.m. at a motel in the city.

The six stripped Ms. A of her clothes and assaulted her face and other areas, and showed the assault via video call to other friends. They also forced her to self-harm by showing her objects inside the motel and allegedly ordered her to engage in prostitution to earn money.

It is known that they assaulted Ms. A because she "tripped but did not fall, just got angry," among other reasons. The assault lasted over four hours, and one of them took Ms. A home by taxi.

The police have taken statements from the victim Ms. A and plan to summon and investigate the perpetrators soon.
