[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Cho Hyung-joo] Gwangju University (President Kim Hyuk-jong) announced on the 20th that it has signed a business agreement with Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association and the Korea Disaster Safety Technology Institute to train disaster safety professionals.
The signing ceremony for this agreement to cooperate in disaster safety research, education, and relief volunteer activities was attended by Shin Seok-gyun, Dean of the College of Engineering at Gwangju University, Kim Jeong-hee, Secretary General of Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association, Jeong Sang-man, Director of the Korea Disaster Safety Technology Institute, and officials from each organization.
Through this agreement, each organization agreed to cooperate in building a network for disaster relief and fostering professionals through disaster safety research and education.
They also plan to jointly carry out disaster relief activities, volunteer fundraising, and donations in the event of a disaster.
Shin Seok-gyun, Dean of the College of Engineering at Gwangju University, said, "In the midst of a major disaster accident in our region, I find it meaningful that a business agreement ceremony for disaster safety measures was held," adding, "This will not be a formal event, but we will create practical measures for the safety of all citizens amid various disasters."
Kim Jeong-hee, Secretary General of Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association, stated, "Our association, which carries out various relief activities amid social disasters, will seek advice from professors and researchers through this agreement and continue research tirelessly to engage in progressive and active support activities."
Jeong Sang-man, Director of the Korea Disaster Safety Technology Institute, said, "We have established a cooperative system for disaster safety education, relief activities and volunteering, research, and technology fields," adding, "We will cooperate to put this into action."
