Korean Publishing Culture Industry Promotion Agency Startup Incubation Center Resident Company Achieves 5.7 Billion KRW in Sales

The Korea Publication Culture Industry Promotion Agency (Director Kim Jun-hee) announced that tenant companies operating in the Publishing Knowledge Startup Incubation Center generated a total sales revenue of 5.7 billion KRW in 2021.

The Publishing Knowledge Startup Incubation Center (hereinafter referred to as the Center) has been operating since 2020 as the only public institution's 'publishing-specialized' self-sustaining startup incubation center. The Center consists of a total of 24 incubation rooms ranging from 12.7㎡ to 20.2㎡ in exclusive area, housing businesses including prospective startups and those in the publishing knowledge industry with up to five years of experience.

As a result of a performance survey conducted on companies that resided in the Center for more than six months during 2021, sales amounted to 5.7 billion KRW, the number of published titles was 355, employment including representatives totaled 55, and the number of intellectual property rights held was 334. Compared to 2020, sales increased by 12.6%, the number of published titles by 51%, and intellectual property rights held by 143.7%. The sharp increase in the number of published books and intellectual property rights is analyzed to be due to tenant companies timely planning and releasing books that align with market trends and reader demand.

In addition to these external achievements, over 70 titles including I Accidentally Killed Pluto (Must Read Book, 11th tenant) by Publishing Rollercoaster (2nd tenant) and When the Mind Becomes Ill were selected in various book selection projects such as the Sejong Books. Furthermore, Metaverse Gold Rush and My Day Begins with Meditation by Slody Media Group (22nd tenant) are set to be exported to China and Taiwan, marking a representative export case achieved three years after moving into the Center.

Anyone who has been in business for less than three years in the publishing knowledge industry can download the application form from the Publication Promotion Agency’s website and apply anytime via email to move into the Center.
