Polaris Office Develops AI Mobile Security Solution... Responding to Metaverse Security Threats

[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Polaris Office, a company specializing in office software, announced on the 20th the launch of a new mobile security solution incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) technology called the ‘Malicious App Risk Assessment System (Polaris Malware Diagnosis AI).’

This AI mobile security solution is a security technology that integrates machine learning rather than the existing pattern-based antivirus technology. It was developed to address cybersecurity issues, which have become a key topic in the metaverse era, by identifying not only already known malicious apps but also new, unknown security threats.

A Polaris Office official explained, “In the metaverse era, as all information becomes connected and the economic value of the metaverse industry grows due to cryptocurrencies, NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens), and more, critical security threats are emerging constantly. The most important issue at this point is to resolve Zeroday Exploits (attack codes for which patches do not exist), which are security threats before patches and vaccines are released.”

He continued, “The AI-based security solution we have developed and launched this time can effectively address these issues by identifying unknown security threats. We plan to expand product supply mainly to the B2B (business-to-business) and B2G (business-to-government) markets, including public institutions and financial institutions.”

Additionally, he added, “We also plan to launch a B2C (business-to-consumer) service that allows general users to upload their apps and check their risk levels to provide a safe mobile environment.”

Meanwhile, the security industry recently sounded the alarm following the disclosure of the remote code execution (RCE) vulnerability ‘Log4shell’ related to ‘Log4j,’ a Java-based open-source logging library developed by the Apache Foundation. Security companies at home and abroad have taken emergency measures such as distributing vaccines and inspection services, and the National Intelligence Service, a public security agency, has conducted an emergency inspection related to the vulnerability.
