National Library of Korea Expands Contactless Services for Broadcasting, Performance, and Academic Materials

The National Library of Korea (Director Seo Hye-ran) will expand the number of domestic and international databases available for use at home, including e-books, newspapers and magazines, video and audio materials, and academic resources, from 49 types last year to 53 types starting in January.

In particular, to support the public's online cultural life, the library will make it convenient to access broadcasting and performance content, popular books in practical and hobby fields, as well as academic databases that were relatively difficult to use due to low domestic subscription rates, such as the Women’s Studies Archive in the field of women’s studies and the Literary Reference Center Plus in literary studies, both inside and outside the library.

Anyone holding a regular user card of the National Library of Korea can access the library’s website (Login > Search Materials > Web DB) to conveniently use domestic video programs such as documentaries and current affairs, newspaper archives, National Geographic magazines, Berlin Philharmonic performances, art-related DVD videos, and domestic and international academic databases from anywhere.

Director Seo Hye-ran stated, “In these days when people’s minds and bodies are exhausted due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation, I hope that various online contents provided by the library will help heal the mind and body and allow continued enjoyment of culture.”
