[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Gwi-yeol] Yeongyang-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, will provide a ‘First Meeting Voucher’ worth 2 million KRW per newborn this year. It will be issued as a National Happiness Card voucher.
Yeongyang-gun announced on the 2nd that, in addition to its own childbirth encouragement fund, it will provide the First Meeting Voucher to reduce the economic burden of child-rearing.
The recipients are infants born after January 1, 2022, who have been registered and assigned a resident registration number. The voucher will be issued in the form of a National Happiness Card voucher, with 2 million KRW per child. The usage period is one year from the child’s birth date, and it can be used in all industries except entertainment and gambling sectors.
The payment period starts from April 1, and guardians or representatives can apply by visiting the administrative welfare center of the child’s resident registration address within 60 days from the birth date, or guardians can apply online via Bokjiro or Government24.
Yeongyang-gun also supports childbirth encouragement funds: 100,000 KRW per month for three years for the first child, 150,000 KRW per month for three years for the second child, and 200,000 KRW per month for five years for the third child.
A Yeongyang-gun Public Health Center official said, “The First Meeting Voucher and childbirth encouragement fund will help reduce the initial economic burden of childbirth and are expected to be a great help to families with newborns.”
