[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] The Wonju Regional Land Management Office of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has prepared the "Construction Worker Life-Saving Safety Rules (One Point Lifesaver)" to prevent fatal accidents among construction site workers ahead of the enforcement of the "Serious Accident Punishment Act" on the 27th.
According to the Wonju Regional Land Office on the 19th, the "One Point Safety Rule" involves thoroughly investigating the causes of accidents at 17 construction sites in the Gangwon region where fatal accidents occurred, to find the minimum one (One-Point) measure that could have prevented the fatal accidents.
The Wonju Regional Land Office, together with 18 cities and counties in Gangwon Province and construction safety-related organizations, held a working-level council and created a safety manual titled "Protecting Construction Site Workers' Lives (One-point Safety Rules)", which subdivides 17 different safety rules by work process.
Meanwhile, on the 20th, 32 organizations including the Wonju Office, Gangwon Province, local governments, and the Construction Safety Council (national, public, and associations) plan to sign a business agreement for the joint implementation of the "One Point Safety Rules."
The agreement includes "checking the implementation of One Point Safety Rules by ordering agencies" and "guidance and encouragement of One Point Safety Rules by licensing and permitting agencies."
The signing ceremony is expected to be attended by Park Il-ha, head of the Wonju Regional Land Office, Choi Moon-soon, Governor of Gangwon, heads of local governments in Gangwon, and heads of the Gangwon Construction Safety Council organizations.
Park Il-ha, head of the Wonju Office, said, "If the effectiveness of the One Point Safety Rules is recognized, we plan to expand it nationwide," adding, "We will continuously manage, supplement, and develop the One Point Safety Rules by discovering additional rules to ensure they become effective safety measures."
