I Became Interested in the Metaverse! ... Dong-Eui University Runs a High School Winter School on the Metaverse Topic

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Hwang Dooyul] The Metaverse Education Research Institute at Dong-Eui University conducted the ‘2021 High School Winter School’ from the 5th to the 11th at the Dong-Eui University Industry-Academic Cooperation Building under the theme ‘Finding the Future in the Metaverse.’

The courses consisted of Arduino coding classes taught by Professor Choi Hoon of Dong-Eui University’s Department of Electronic Engineering, understanding the metaverse by Senior Researcher Lee Mihwa, experiencing various platforms, and a program where participating students created their own school in the metaverse platform Gather Town to experience virtual reality firsthand.

Jung Jooyoung, head of the Metaverse Education Research Institute, said, “It was an opportunity to carefully reconsider how best to integrate the metaverse with education.”

A student who participated in the program said, “I was glad to learn how important the value of virtual reality will be in the future. Although I have not decided on a specific career path, I have developed an interest in metaverse-related occupations.”

Dong-Eui University had seven courses selected for the ‘High School Winter School Project’ organized by the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education.

The university operated experience-centered courses for first and second-year high school students, including △ Understanding Criminal Psychology and Profiling △ Experiencing Customized Professional Physical Therapy by Life Cycle △ I Can Create the Metaverse! (Experience Space Travel through the Metaverse) △ Recovering Daily Life through Our Own Film - Interactive Film Production △ Interesting Stories about Finance △ Science at Crime Scenes △ Finding the Future in the Metaverse.
