Imyeong Lee, Newly Appointed Executive Director of the Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation

[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-seop] On the 19th, the Korea Deposit Insurance Corporation appointed Lee Mi-young, head of the Human Resources Support Department, as the new standing director. Since the establishment of KDIC, this is the first time a woman has been appointed to a standing executive position.

Director Lee graduated from Jeonnam Girls' High School and Seoul National University with a degree in Computational Statistics. She also completed an MBA program at Korea University Business School. She earned a master's degree in Finance from Michigan State University in the United States.

She joined KDIC in July 1996 and has held positions such as Head of the Information Systems Office, Head of the Creative Management Office, Head of the Savings Bank Management Department, and Head of the Human Resources Support Department. She is particularly recognized for contributing to financial restructuring and management innovation through strengthening IT capabilities, reducing debt, resolving savings bank insolvencies, and improving job-based compensation systems.

A KDIC official emphasized, “We expect Director Lee to contribute to stabilizing the financial market and expanding financial consumer protection by efficiently recovering support funds and improving the quality of public IT services.”
