According to the Korea Securities Depository on the 19th, the total stock settlement amount last year was 511.3 trillion won, an increase of 22.6% compared to the previous year.

The settlement amount in the on-market stock market was 235.1 trillion won, up 24.7% from the previous year, and the settlement amount for institutional investors in stocks was 276.2 trillion won, up 21.0% from the previous year.

The stock settlement amount accounts for only 4.8% of the stock trading amount (1,711.5 trillion won), and the deduction effect of funds through the securities settlement service reached 1,200.2 trillion won.

By market, the deduction effect of on-market stock market settlements was 7,351.3 trillion won (deduction rate 96.9%), and the deduction effect of stock institutional investor settlements was 2,848.9 trillion won (deduction rate 91.2%).

A representative from the Korea Securities Depository said about the deduction effect of the securities settlement service, "Market participants can complete securities settlements with minimal funds, and this reduction in settlement scale reduces liquidity risk, contributing to the improvement of the stability of the securities market."
