[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Joselgina] A gas explosion caused a fire in a single-family home in the Bronx, New York, resulting in one death.

According to ABC7 New York, a fire broke out around 11 a.m. local time on the 18th in a residential area of the Bronx, New York. More than 100 firefighters responded, but the three-story house was completely destroyed.

A 77-year-old woman was rescued from the fire and taken to the hospital but died. At least nine people were confirmed injured, four of whom were residents of the house. The media added that five police officers also inhaled smoke and were transported to the hospital.

District Councilman Rafael Salamanca stated via Twitter that the fire appears to have started due to a gas explosion.

Earlier, on the 9th, a large fire in the Bronx resulted in the deaths of 17 residents. The Bronx, located in the northeastern part of Manhattan, New York, is a borough with a low income level and a low percentage of white residents excluding Latinx among the total population.
