Jeongeup-si to Provide 'Livelihood Stability Support Fund' to Jeonse Bus and Taxi Drivers

[Jeongeup=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] Jeongeup City in Jeonbuk announced on the 18th that it will provide full provincial government-funded livelihood stabilization support funds to charter bus and taxi drivers who are experiencing economic difficulties such as a sharp decline in transportation income due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.

The city plans to support about 130 charter bus drivers and about 590 taxi (corporate and individual) drivers in the region with 800,000 KRW per person before the Lunar New Year holiday.

The total project cost required is about 570 million KRW.

The support targets are limited to charter bus and taxi drivers whose business registration address is registered in Jeongeup City, who were employed before December 11 of last year and are currently continuously working.

Applications can be submitted to the city's Transportation Department through the charter bus association and individual taxi/general taxi corporations with the application form and required documents by the 21st.

The required documents include the livelihood recovery support fund application form, business registration certificate, vehicle registration certificate, and a copy of the bankbook.

Details can be confirmed through the taxi association and charter bus association, and the city plans to provide the support funds after verifying eligibility and other procedures.

The city expects this support to give hope for overcoming the crisis to charter bus and taxi drivers who are facing great difficulties due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.

A city official said, "We hope this livelihood stabilization support fund will be of some help to transportation workers struggling due to COVID-19," and added, "We will continue to strive to prepare crisis measures so that transportation workers can overcome the crisis and restore their daily lives stably."
