[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] There are expectations that Apple will equip the next-generation 'iPad Air,' expected to be released this spring, with the A15 Bionic chipset.
On the 17th (local time), IT specialized media PhoneArena and others cited Japan's related media Mac Otakara, reporting that the 5th generation iPad Air will apply the A15 chipset as its application processor (AP). The A15 Bionic is the chipset installed in the 'iPhone 13' series released last year.
According to reports, Apple plans to unveil the 5th generation iPad Air product in March or April. The 5th generation iPad Air is the successor to the '4th generation iPad Air' released in October 2020, and its overall design is expected to be largely similar to its predecessor. The display size is also said to be the same as the previous model at 10.9 inches. However, it is expected to support 5G mobile communication.
Additionally, it is expected to be equipped with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera on the front that supports the 'Center Stage' feature. Center Stage is a function that keeps the subject centered on the screen during video calls and has been included in the iPad lineup since the release of the '7th generation iPad Pro' in May last year.
Other expected features include a power button combined with Touch ID and support for a USB-C port. The price is expected to start at $599 (approximately 710,000 KRW) for the Wi-Fi model with 64GB storage.
