President Moon's Call with UAE Crown Prince: "Condolences for Drone Attack Victims"

[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] President Moon Jae-in, who is visiting the United Arab Emirates (UAE), had a 25-minute summit call with Crown Prince Mohammed on the 17th (local time), White House spokesperson Park Kyung-mi reported.

President Moon said, "I heard the urgent and unfortunate news that there was a drone attack in Abu Dhabi today, and I extend my deepest condolences and sympathy to the victims and their families."

President Moon expressed, "I am seriously concerned about acts threatening peace and stability in the Middle East region, including the UAE, and especially strongly condemn acts of terrorism that attack civilians and take lives, which can never be tolerated," emphasizing, "As Korea’s true ‘Rafik,’ I will always stand with the UAE."

Additionally, President Moon conveyed, "Although I could not meet the Crown Prince in person, Prime Minister Mohammed warmly welcomed me, and I am grateful for the sincerity and efforts extended to me and the delegation."

Spokesperson Park explained, "Crown Prince Mohammed said he was very happy to hear the voice of President Moon Jae-in, who is like a brother and friend from Korea, his second country, and expressed his apologies once again for having to communicate in this way."

Spokesperson Park added, "Crown Prince Mohammed expressed regret and great disappointment that due to unavoidable circumstances beyond his control, he could not meet in person, and he thanked us for the continuous development of the special relationship between Korea and the UAE."

Meanwhile, President Moon said, "I appreciate the Crown Prince’s special interest and support for the Cheongung II project contract and our companies’ participation in the submarine power transmission line construction project."

President Moon added, "I hope that in the future, the two countries will cooperate not only in construction and infrastructure but also in defense and defense industry sectors, and I look forward to expanded cooperation in the development and production of next-generation fighter jets."
