[Muan=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Oh Hwan-joo] Kim Dae-hyun, chairman of the Muan County Council in Jeollanam-do, officially declared his candidacy first among the candidates for the Muan County governor election scheduled for June, saying on the 13th, "I will become a young governor leading a new era of great transformation."
In his declaration of candidacy, he announced 10 pledges and vowed to "bring forward the era of a 1 trillion won budget and a population of 100,000."
He also promised to develop rural areas as the center of the 6th industry, pioneer a new maritime era, foster the Namak-Oryong area as an education and cultural special zone, and take the lead in creating jobs for young people.
Chairman Kim emphasized, "We will divide our county into four zones: the original downtown area, agricultural area, maritime area, and industrial area, and launch systematic development projects."
He continued, "We will create a foundation for transparent administration where residents ask and the governor answers," and declared, "We will realize the number one grassroots cultural tourism destination where style and taste harmonize."
Kim Dae-hyun was elected as a member of the Muan County Council in 2018 and took office as the youngest chairman in history in 2020, leading the second half of the 8th council.
Meanwhile, candidates mentioned for the Muan County governor election include current governor Kim San, county council members Lee Jung-woon and Kang Byung-guk, former Muan County Forestry Cooperative chairman Choi Ok-soo from the Democratic Party, and former provincial council member Jung Young-duk, an independent who is seeking to rejoin the Democratic Party.
