[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] Hanwha Techwin announced on the 17th that it will participate in the global retail exhibition 'NRF 2022' held in New York, USA from the 16th to 18th, and the security exhibition 'Intersec 2022' held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE), showcasing video solutions utilizing closed-circuit television (CCTV).
At NRF 2022, the company will introduce the unmanned payment solution 'QCO' that can be used in the retail industry. QCO is an unmanned checkout device that automatically recognizes the barcode of products placed on a conveyor belt. Two models, large and small, will be presented to enable the use of unmanned payment solutions in various types of stores, from large supermarkets to convenience stores.
The large model automatically recognizes product barcodes regardless of the position or direction using multiple sensors and cameras, allowing consumers to check out quickly and accurately without having to find and scan each barcode individually.
Hanwha Techwin developed this solution based on the fact that many retailers are increasing the introduction of various types of unmanned checkout counters to operate stores efficiently and expand 24-hour operations. The company explained that this is an example of expanding business into a new field by utilizing optical technology accumulated over more than 30 years in the video security sector.
At Intersec 2022, industry-specific customized solutions using artificial intelligence (AI) CCTV will be introduced. The newly launched 'New X-Core' and 'X-Plus' series CCTV cameras have AI analysis functions built into the cameras that detect and classify people, vehicles, and license plates in real time. In addition, products and solutions specialized for urban areas in the Middle East and Africa, such as traffic detection and accident detection, will also be showcased.
A Hanwha Techwin official said, "The core of video solutions is to reproduce the vast amount of information contained in videos into useful information for customers," adding, "We will actively target the global market by developing various solutions tailored to industry demands such as retail and transportation beyond the security field."
