[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Ju-yeon] The Democratic Party of Korea stated on the 14th that the court's partial approval of the injunction request to ban the broadcast of the 'Kim Geon-hee phone call' is a "decision that aligns with the common sense of the people."
Cho Seung-rae, the chief spokesperson of the election campaign committee, said in a written briefing that evening, "The court has effectively dismissed the request to ban the broadcast of the phone call content of Kim Geon-hee, the wife of candidate Yoon Seok-yeol."
Cho emphasized, "The court recognized Ms. Kim's right to defense in the investigation but clearly stated that broadcasting her remarks is necessary to guarantee the public's right to know," adding, "The court's decision proves that the actions of the People Power Party lawmakers who rushed to MBC today to block the broadcast were wrong."
He continued, "The People Power Party must clearly apologize for the media suppression attempt that infringed on MBC's broadcasting programming rights," and said, "Candidate Yoon and his wife, as well as the People Power Party, should humbly accept the public judgment on the content of Ms. Kim's remarks disclosed according to the court's decision. That is the minimum courtesy to the voters."
