[Asia Economy Reporter Naju-seok] The People Power Party expressed 'regret' over the court's decision to allow partial broadcasting of the 7-hour phone conversation involving Kim Geon-hee, and warned of legal action regarding the broadcast content.

Lee Yang-su, chief spokesperson of the People Power Party's election campaign headquarters, expressed regret over the court's partial approval of the party's injunction request to prohibit MBC from broadcasting the phone conversation between Kim and a reporter from Seoul's Sori.

Lee said, "It is extremely regrettable that the court has allowed even partial broadcasting of an illegally recorded file," adding, "Ahead of the election, a public broadcaster violating journalistic ethics and airing an illegal recording with impure political motives seriously undermines political neutrality and sets a bad precedent of election interference that forgets the basics of the press."

He continued, "We will strongly respond, including legal measures, depending on the content of future broadcasts."

The court ruled that broadcasts related to ongoing investigations involving Kim as a creditor should not be aired.
