NSC Standing Committee Emergency Meeting Held to Review Security Situation... Monitoring North Korea's Movements and Considering Response Measures

[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] The Blue House announced on the 14th, "The NSC standing members once again expressed strong regret over North Korea's successive missile test launches."


The Blue House explained, "An emergency meeting of the NSC Standing Committee was held, during which Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Won In-cheol reported on the situation and the military's readiness regarding the unidentified short-range projectile launch, presumed to be a North Korean ballistic missile, and the security situation was reviewed."

The Blue House stated, "We emphasized that North Korea's consecutive missile launches do not contribute to the stability of the Korean Peninsula situation at such a critical time, urged North Korea to promptly respond to dialogue, and decided to closely consult with related countries."


The Blue House also conveyed, "Furthermore, under close cooperation between South Korea and the United States, we will conduct a detailed analysis of the projectile's specifications and closely monitor North Korea's related follow-up movements while preparing necessary countermeasures."


Meanwhile, the standing committee meeting was attended by National Security Office Director Suh Hoon, Presidential Secretary Yoo Young-min, Foreign Minister Chung Eui-yong, Defense Minister Suh Wook, Director of the Office for Government Policy Coordination Koo Yun-cheol, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Won In-cheol, Vice Minister of Unification Choi Young-jun, First Deputy Director of the National Intelligence Service Park Sun-won, and First and Second Deputy Directors of the National Security Office Seo Joo-seok and Kim Hyung-jin, respectively.
