The American business magazine Forbes announced the 2021 earnings ranking of female athletes on the 14th (Korean time). Ko Jin-young earned 7.5 million dollars and ranked 6th. Last season, she swept 5 wins on the LPGA Tour, becoming the first Korean player to be the ‘top money winner for 3 consecutive years (3,502,161 dollars)’. It was also found that her income outside of prize money was close to 4 million dollars.


Forbes described Ko Jin-young as "receiving various support from Korean companies where golf is popular," mentioning sponsors such as LG Electronics, Korean Air, and Jeju Samdasoo. The highest ranking ever for a Korean athlete in this category was 4th place by Kim Yuna (figure skating) in 2014. Tennis star Naomi Osaka (Japan) earned 57.3 million dollars. She has been ranked 1st for 3 consecutive years since 2019. Her prize money was 2.3 million dollars, and her income outside prize money was 55 million dollars.


Serena Williams ranked 2nd (tennis, 45.9 million dollars), Venus Williams 3rd (tennis, 11.3 million dollars), Simone Biles (gymnastics, USA) 4th (10.1 million dollars), Garbi?e Muguruza (tennis, Spain) 5th (8.8 million dollars) followed. P.V. Sindhu (badminton, India) ranked 7th (7.2 million dollars), Ashleigh Barty (tennis, Australia) 8th (6.9 million dollars). World No.1 Nelly Korda (golf, USA) was ranked 9th (5.9 million dollars).
