[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Oh Gyu-seok, the mayor of Gijang-gun, Busan, has embarked on an on-site campaign to create a green and safe city.
On the 13th, Mayor Oh visited the slope prevention construction site at the entrance of Sarasu Waterfront Park in Gijang-eup. Sarasu Waterfront Park is a waterside park encompassing a large reservoir of about 15,000㎡. It features Samultang Boyak Park, trekking roads, exercise spaces, and attracts many residents.
Gijang-gun is currently carrying out slope restoration work using advanced safety construction methods on a steep slope area of 700㎡ at the park entrance to ensure Sarasu Waterfront Park can be used safely and comfortably 365 days a year. To enhance residents' convenience, one restroom equipped with safety facilities such as emergency bells and automated external defibrillators will also be added.
The county plans to plant wild fruit trees such as Cornus officinalis and quince trees in the slope maintenance area to provide differentiated attractions.
After inspecting the Sarasu Waterfront Park site, Mayor Oh Gyu-seok said, “I will communicate directly with residents and oversee the site to prevent natural disasters caused by climate change and create a green and safe city,” adding, “We will do our best to ensure the maintenance of Sarasu Waterfront Park is completed promptly.”
Since 2020, Gijang-gun has proactively promoted the ‘Resting Place Project,’ creating parks with healing, health, nature, and culture throughout the five towns and townships, and is conducting projects to maintain rivers and hiking trails.
