Modern House Opens Largest-Ever Store in Jeonju

The living and lifestyle brand ‘Modern House’ will open its largest-ever new store on the 2nd floor of Pine Tree Mall in Songcheon-dong, Jeonju, on the 21st.

The Modern House Jeonju store has a total area of approximately 3,900m² (about 1,180 pyeong), which is more than half the size of a FIFA- and K-League-recommended soccer field. MH&Co (CEO Oh Sang-heun), which operates the Modern House brand, stated, “This is the largest store ever operated by MH&Co and will become a landmark store in Jeollabuk-do, covering not only Jeonju but also Iksan, Gimje, Jeongeup, and Gunsan.”

To become a representative local attraction, the Modern House Jeonju store features enhanced consumer experience and visual appeal. A prime example is the creation of a street garden with a ‘Home & Garden’ concept for consumers interested in the latest trends such as ‘Plantterior’ (a blend of plant and interior: interior decoration using plants or pots as focal points) and ‘home gardening.’ The indoor garden, which also serves as a resting area, displays gardening accessories categorized by the use of fresh flowers and artificial plants, along with complementary items like mirrors and frames to assist consumers in product selection.

A separate play and product experience space for children has also been prepared. Starting from the kids’ playground, product demonstration areas for girls and boys are separated, allowing children and parents to freely experience products in the play area and then purchase their preferred items.

The kitchen space is also specialized for the growing number of ‘home cooking’ and ‘home dining’ enthusiasts due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic. The demonstration area, decorated using Modern House’s popular kitchen products, offers consumers attractive dining concepts. The display method emphasizing wood and glass items for tableware can be directly seen and experienced.

Despite the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, Modern House has shown clear growth driven by the increase in single-person households and the home living market expanding by about 10% annually. Last year’s sales grew by 10% compared to 2020, and EBITDA increased by more than 30%. This year, 12 new stores will open in major retail chains such as Lotte and Hyundai and key commercial districts, with expectations of double-digit sales growth.

Modern House stated, “The Modern House Jeonju store will offer customers, who have been mentally and physically exhausted due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, not only the joy of shopping but also the opportunity to see and experience changing home living trends with their families in a large-scale store.”

Meanwhile, an opening event for the Modern House Jeonju store will also be held. Modern House Family members can purchase living products at a 20% discount and furniture at a 10% discount from January 21 to 23. Generous gifts will be provided based on purchase amounts, and a lucky box event will be held daily for the first 200 customers during this period.
