[Asia Economy (Seongnam) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province will support 1.7 billion KRW for 8 projects this year to revitalize traditional markets.

On the 14th, Seongnam City announced on the 13th that it will hold the "2022 Traditional Market and Alley Commercial District Revitalization Support Project Briefing" at the multipurpose auditorium on the basement first floor of the Sujeong Community Center in Sujin-dong, Sujeong-gu, with about 100 merchants attending.

The city previously secured a total project budget of 1.7 billion KRW to help the growth of small business owners in traditional markets, shopping districts, and alley commercial districts within the jurisdiction.

The main support projects include ▲ fostering alley-type shopping districts ▲ revitalizing specialized streets ▲ improving business environments ▲ joint marketing support ▲ live commerce market development support ▲ merchant university and graduate school ▲ merchant cultural programs.

Among these, the specialized street revitalization project selects two locations and invests 100 million KRW each, totaling 200 million KRW. It involves improving the overall commercial environment and infrastructure, design specialization, and unique commercial district revitalization programs.

The live commerce market development support project targets merchants who face difficulties entering the online market and securing sales channels.

The briefing session is hosted by the Seongnam City Commercial District Revitalization Foundation, with direct explanations provided by Seongnam City and the Gyeonggi-do Market and Commercial District Promotion Agency to aid understanding.

The city also distributes a guidebook that neatly summarizes the details of each support project.
