Lee Jae-myung's New Economic Vision Announcement: "Completing a Top 5 Global Economy through Great Transformation and Reform"

[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jin-young] Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated on the 11th, "I will make Korea one of the world's top 5 economic powers through a great transformation and reform."

On the same day, Lee held a New Economic Vision declaration ceremony at the National Assembly Members' Office Building's main conference room and said, "Lee Jae-myung's new economy is a bold plan for a great transformation and becoming one of the world's top 5, and a strategy to turn crises into opportunities."

He viewed that for the vision of becoming a comprehensive national power and one of the world's top 5 economic powers, a great transformation in science and technology, industry, education, and national territory is essential. In the field of science and technology, he plans to promote ten future strategic technologies such as artificial intelligence and quantum technology as presidential projects. For industrial transformation, he announced an investment of 135 trillion won in digital transformation to create 2 million new jobs. He also emphasized continuing innovation in energy, manufacturing, small and medium enterprises, and the service sector.

To achieve a great transformation in education, he pledged to drastically increase support for university education, and for the national territory transformation, he proposed developing Korea into a 5-pole 3-special zone system and advancing it into a super-regional megacity.

Lee said, "The four great transformations alone cannot complete Lee Jae-myung's new economy that dreams of being one of the world's top 5," and added, "Two reform tasks supporting the great transformation are necessary." He pledged to back this with public reform to reform the public service sector and financial reform through efforts such as promoting Korea's inclusion in the MSCI developed market index.

He emphasized, "Lee Jae-myung's new economy is a growth-oriented new economy aiming for the world's top 5," and "Now is the golden time to turn the crisis of great transformation into an opportunity for growth."
