[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Sunday, the 9th, is expected to be covered nationwide with fine dust. Additionally, it will be mostly cloudy, with snow and rain expected in various parts of the central region.
On the 7th, as the cold receded and fine dust arrived, the city viewed from Haengjusanseong in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi Province appeared hazy. Due to stagnant air, the concentration of ultrafine dust in the metropolitan area, as well as the central-western region and Jeonbuk, is expected to remain at a "bad" level throughout the day. Although there will be no major cold concerns over the weekend, the ultrafine dust may become even denser. Photo by Moon Honam munonam@
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, the morning low temperature is forecasted to be between -7 and 3 degrees Celsius, and the daytime high temperature between 2 and 10 degrees Celsius. In the northeastern part of Gyeonggi and northern Chungbuk, snowfall is expected to be less than 1 cm (precipitation less than 1 mm), while in the rest of the Seoul metropolitan area, Chungnam region, and northern inland Gyeongbuk, snowfall is expected to be less than 0.1 cm (0.1 mm precipitation).
Fine dust concentration is expected to be 'very bad' in the Seoul metropolitan area and Chungnam, 'bad' in Gangwon Yeongseo, Daejeon, Sejong, Chungbuk, Honam region, Daegu, and Gyeongbuk, and 'normal' in other regions.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Environment will issue the first ultrafine dust crisis alert of the year at the 'interest' level and implement emergency fine dust reduction measures from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. in Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi, and Chungnam.
From dawn to morning, fog with visibility less than 1 km is expected in the central and Jeolla inland areas, and dense fog with visibility less than 200 m is expected in the inland areas of Gyeonggi.
Sea waves will be 0.5 to 2.0 m in the East Sea coastal waters, 0.5 to 1.5 m in the West Sea coastal waters, and 0.5 to 1.0 m in the South Sea coastal waters.
Wave heights in the offshore waters (about 200 km from the coastline) are predicted to be 0.5 to 2.5 m in the East Sea, and 0.5 to 2.0 m in the West Sea and South Sea.
