Emart24 Sold 3.05 Million Bottles Last Year
CU Ranks No.1 in Sales of 'Eum! Red Wine'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Chun-han] As the trend of drinking at home and drinking alone spreads, the popularity of wine continues to grow, and convenience stores are launching new products one after another to target consumers.
On the 8th, Emart24 introduced 'Como Cava' as its first wine of the year. Cava refers to Spain's sparkling wine made using the traditional method similar to France's Champagne, and it was planned to allow consumers to enjoy sparkling wine at a price under 10,000 won. With this release, the Como series has expanded to five types, including Chilean, Italian, and French red and white wines. Emart24 is offering a 2,000 won discount per bottle when purchasing two or more bottles of Como until the end of this month.
Emart24 sold 3.05 million bottles of wine last year. In particular, 750,000 bottles were sold last month alone, setting a record for the highest monthly sales. This year, they will continue to focus on wine marketing. They plan to strengthen wine sales through reservation purchases via the Emart24 application (app). Additionally, the number of liquor-specialized stores, currently about 3,600, will be expanded to 4,000 this year to enhance both online and offline accessibility.
CU launched 'Eum! Standard' as the fourth product of its own wine brand 'Eum!' on the 6th. This product blends Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the representative red wine grape varieties, each aged separately in French oak and American oak, then blended in a 5:5 ratio. It features a rich aroma of blackberry, spices, caramel, and vanilla, with excellent harmony of acidity, tannins, and body.
According to CU, from 2016 for five years, 'Diablo Cabernet Sauvignon' ranked first in wine sales every year, but last year, Eum! Red Wine sold 2.5 times more than this product, taking first place. Based on average monthly sales, Eum! Premium, the highest-priced in the Eum! series, ranked third, and Eum! Sauvignon Blanc ranked fifth.
A BGF Retail official said, “Eum! wine broke the stereotype that expensive wine tastes better and created a wine culture that can be enjoyed deliciously and comfortably in everyday life,” adding, “We plan to continue strengthening the lineup so that customers can enjoy a variety of wines at reasonable prices.”
