[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] As robot-related stocks show strength, Perstek's stock price is also on the rise. This is interpreted as growing interest in robot-related stocks as Samsung Electronics is drawing attention for the possibility of a large-scale merger and acquisition (M&A). The robot sector is also considered one of the leading fields for Samsung Electronics' M&A. Samsung Electronics is fostering its robot business by applying its self-developed advanced robot technology to various fields such as walking assistance, serving, and home life assistance. Recently, it has also upgraded its 'Robot Commercialization Task Force (TF)' to the 'Robot Business Team' to strengthen its business.
As of 10:17 AM on the 7th, Perstek was trading at 2,550 KRW, up 3.45% (85 KRW) compared to the previous trading day.
Han Jong-hee, Vice Chairman and Head of Samsung Electronics' DX Division, said on the 5th (local time) at CES 2022, the world's largest electronics and information technology (IT) exhibition held in Las Vegas, USA, in response to a question about the possibility of pursuing M&A, "I think there will be good news soon."
Since being designated as a national defense contractor, Perstek has participated in major system projects such as the T-50, Surion, short-range surface-to-surface missiles, surface-to-air guided weapons, K-9 self-propelled howitzer, and K-10 ammunition carrier. Perstek has been recognized for its technology and quality by developing and producing launch control equipment, drive devices, environmental control devices, heat exchangers, and automatic fire extinguishing devices in various fields.
In 2018, Perstek succeeded in developing a vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) flying robot system as part of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's core technology development project for robot industry convergence. This project was conducted in 2012 as part of the Ministry of Knowledge Economy's robot industry source technology development project. Perstek led the project with participation from the Korea Aerospace Research Institute, KAIST, and drone development specialist company Ucon System.
Perstek was responsible for ground systems and system technology, while the Korea Aerospace Research Institute, KAIST, and Ucon System were respectively responsible for ▲aircraft and precision control ▲target tracking ▲avionics and mission equipment technology.
