[CES2022] Samsung Electronics Established '837X' in the Metaverse

[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] Samsung Electronics has created ‘Samsung837X’ in the metaverse, modeled after ‘Samsung837,’ Samsung’s flagship store in New York, to coincide with the world’s largest electronics and IT exhibition, CES 2022.

On the 6th (local time), Samsung Electronics’ U.S. branch announced through its newsroom that it has opened the doors of Samsung837X on ‘Decentraland,’ a blockchain-based virtual real estate platform.

Samsung Electronics prepared quests based on three themes it aims to highlight: connectivity, sustainability, and customization, so that users can enjoy this space. By completing these quests, users can earn up to four NFT badges, which can be exchanged for three types of limited wearable product collections usable within Decentraland.

At 8:37 PM on the last day of CES, the 7th, a party connecting the real world and the metaverse space will be held to celebrate the debut of the 837X space. A dance party led by producer, DJ, and vibraphonist Gamma Vibes will take place at the actual Samsung837 in New York, creating a space where participants who enter 837X can also enjoy together.

Michelle Crossan Matos, Senior Vice President of Samsung Electronics America, said, “The metaverse transcends physical and spatial limitations to create unique virtual experiences that cannot be had elsewhere,” adding, “We hope people experience this rapidly growing virtual world.” Samsung plans to explore various virtual spaces to offer the Samsung837X experience on other new platforms besides Decentraland.
