KR Motors Targets EV Mobility Two-Wheelers... "Domestic and Overseas Expansion"

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] KR Motors announced on the 6th that it will launch a top-tier domestically produced electric two-wheeler through technological collaboration with Hyundai Kefico and LG Energy Solution, targeting the market.

The developed electric two-wheeler is the HK01E (model name Illusion), which applies the BSS system (Battery Swap System). It has completed mass production preparations and will begin sales in earnest. The BSS is a shared charging platform that simultaneously charges and swaps multiple battery packs, solving the electric two-wheeler’s driving range issue. The application of the BSS system offers significant cost-saving benefits for commercial riders whose average daily driving distance exceeds 100 km.

Illusion is an electric two-wheeler equipped with a 6.8 kW-class drive motor from Hyundai Kefico and a water-cooled thermal management system that guarantees sufficient durability even under harsh driving conditions. The battery is a ternary battery (NCM) using domestically produced cells from LG Energy Solution, optimizing battery performance.

It can achieve a range of 150 km at constant speed and 60?70 km in city driving on a single charge. Additionally, the battery applied to Illusion can be detached using a sliding method.

KR Motors plans to continue expanding EV adoption by partnering with e-commerce, food delivery, and courier/parcel delivery companies to increase the number of riders.

A KR Motors official stated, “We plan to first secure the domestic delivery electric two-wheeler market through collaboration with Hyundai Kefico and LG Energy Solution and then target overseas markets this year. We are promoting the conversion of a model developed by the Chinese joint venture Qingqi-KR Autobike (QQKR), based on a 3 kW-class in-wheel electric motor and lithium-ion battery, into a light electric two-wheeler (QH150-T) aimed at the European and Southeast Asian markets.”

Using the KR Motors JV, exports of two-wheelers to China, Southeast Asia, and Europe are renewed annually. KR Motors exports products with its own design and technology to a total of 43 countries across the Americas, Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Africa, and has secured 46 competitive dealers.
