"Diagnosed with Pericarditis After Second Pfizer Dose... Paid Hundreds of Thousands in Hospital Bills Out of Pocket"
"Exemption from Vaccination Not Recognized... Must Get Third Booster Shot or Face Death, or Starve Due to No Work Without Vaccine Pass"

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoon Seul-gi] A petition has been posted claiming that despite experiencing side effects after the second dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, the causality with the vaccine was deemed insufficient, making the individual eligible for a third dose.
On the 4th, a petition titled "I was diagnosed with pericarditis after the second Pfizer shot, but was told causality was insufficient and now they want me to get the 3rd booster shot. I barely survived. Please help" was posted on the Blue House National Petition Board.
The petitioner, identified as a woman in her 20s named A, claimed she was diagnosed with pericarditis after receiving the second Pfizer vaccine dose on August 25 last year. A said, "After getting the shot, fluid accumulated around my heart, I felt severe pain and had difficulty breathing, so I was immediately taken to the emergency room," adding, "I was hospitalized for a month, took multiple steroids and medications repeatedly, but have not recovered yet and am still undergoing treatment."
In this situation, A said she recently received a notice from the health authorities to get the third dose, stating, "I barely survived, so I contacted the public health center, and they told me the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) judged the causality as 4-2, meaning it was not confirmed."
She continued, "The hospital diagnosed me with pericarditis caused by side effects after the COVID vaccination and I am still being treated, so what on earth does this mean?" expressing frustration. A appealed, "They say causality is insufficient. I was a perfectly healthy person," and added, "While in the hospital, I couldn’t work or go to my company, so I inevitably suffered significant financial damage."
A also said, "I paid hundreds of thousands of won in hospital bills out of pocket, yet the KDCA not only refuses to confirm causality but now absurdly tells me to get the third dose," adding, "Currently, I have the quarantine pass because I received the second vaccine, but does that mean after six months I have to get the third dose and just die? This time, I really might die."
She lamented, "Since I am not classified as an exception to vaccination prohibition, I have to either get the third booster and die or not get the quarantine pass and starve to death because I can’t work?it's one or the other."
Meanwhile, the quarantine authorities classify those who experience severe adverse reactions such as anaphylaxis after the first COVID-19 vaccine dose, those with immunodeficiency, or those whose vaccination is postponed due to immunosuppressant treatment as exceptions to vaccination. Exceptions due to severe adverse reactions are recognized only if the KDCA determines causality with the vaccine and the criteria are met.
