[Asia Economy Reporter Na Ye-eun] Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, announced a pledge to apply health insurance coverage to hair loss treatments, sparking attention as Democratic Party lawmakers consecutively posted hair loss verification messages.

Earlier, on the 2nd, through the 'Listener Project,' candidate Lee received opinions suggesting that it might be good to make the idea of applying health insurance to hair loss medication into a pledge. Once this became known, declarations of support for the candidate were posted one after another on online communities such as the 'DC Inside Hair Loss Gallery.'

On the 5th, Park Joo-min, a Democratic Party lawmaker, posted a video screenshot on DC Inside's 'Hair Loss Gallery' with the message, "Greetings. This is Park Joo-min." He wrote, "Thank you for calling on me so much, I'm here to verify. Everyone, let's be happy too." In the photo posted by Park, a Mickey Mouse character with a bald head was superimposed with the caption "It's been two months since I took off my wig."

Following that, Park took a selfie showing the hair loss gallery site on his monitor screen and posted it, writing, "Some said it looks like I'm pretending to be Park Joo-min, so here is a verification shot. It's really me. Everyone (毛頭), have a happy day."

Kim Yoon-duk, another Democratic Party lawmaker, also posted a YouTube video link on the hair loss gallery board. In the video, candidate Lee says, "For my hair," followed by Kim saying, "I have already planted it. Let's definitely plant Lee Jae-myung in the Blue House."

Additionally, the day before, lawmaker Kim Nam-guk shared, "I am also one of the hair loss sufferers, having experienced severe M-shaped hair loss since college and took Propecia," revealing, "In my case, I took it for about three months during college but stopped due to side effects."

He added, "Another decisive reason for stopping the medication was actually the expensive drug cost," saying, "It was about 70,000 won at the time. As a student, it was an unbearable price, so I had no choice but to quit. I endured with black soybeans while studying and promised myself to take it again once I earned money."

He continued, "Even after earning money, the drug cost was a big burden. Now, I am enduring without taking it. So, I feel that the M-shaped hair loss is progressing slightly faster asymmetrically. I have let go of everything and just think of it as fate." Kim expressed strong agreement with the need for hair loss policies and asked, "Please gather specific opinions from hair loss sufferers so that good policies can be created."

Meanwhile, Hong Joon-pyo, a lawmaker from the People Power Party, also showed a positive response to the pledge. On the 5th, in the Q&A section of the communication channel 'Youth's Dream,' when asked, "What do you think about candidate Lee Jae-myung's pledge?" he answered, "I agree."
