Nanobrick Expands Production Line for Transmittance-Variable Display New Material... "Accelerating Commercialization"

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Nanobrick, an advanced nano-materials specialized company, is aggressively expanding its functional display materials business utilizing nano-platform technology.

Nanobrick announced on the 4th that it has expanded the display new materials mass production line at its production plant located in Pyeongtaek, increasing the monthly production capacity to 300Kg. The company plans to increase this to up to 1 ton per month depending on customer consumption and market expansion in the future.

Based on its proprietary active nano platform technology, Nanobrick is developing various nano materials. It produces and sells materials for molecular diagnostic extraction reagents and advanced security materials for anti-counterfeiting.

Currently, Nanobrick is actively developing new materials in the display field. Last year, it increased its research and development expenses by about 60% to accelerate commercialization. In particular, it is intensifying its efforts in the 'transmittance variable display' (ETD) materials business, where light transmittance changes according to external voltage. After completing material quality evaluation, it is currently conducting final field tests and has expanded the material mass production line to establish a large-scale supply system.

Nanobrick has been developing transmittance variable materials for automotive displays together with global display companies. The transmittance variable materials developed by Nanobrick have the advantage of significantly superior light shielding rate compared to existing similar materials and the ability to adjust light transmission direction and basic color. According to the company, it has been recognized for excellent quality characteristics through process development that can improve long-term mass production quality and rigorous mounting evaluation.

Jae-Hyun Joo, CEO of Nanobrick, said, "Through long-term quality improvement and mass production stabilization processes, we have been recognized as suitable for automotive electronic display applications with strict quality standards. We expect the application to expand to various fields such as transparent displays and smart windows in the future."

He added, "Due to the nature of the materials industry, a long time and cost are invested in product development, but once commercialization begins, the application fields can rapidly expand," emphasizing the scalability of the materials business.
