[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] The prosecution has consecutively dismissed charges related to allegations of forgery of certificates involving Cho Min, the daughter of former Minister of Justice Cho Kuk.
According to the legal community on the 3rd, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office recently decided not to prosecute a case in which the civic group "Action Alliance for Establishing the Rule of Law (hereinafter Beopse-ryeon)" accused former Roh Moo-hyun Foundation Chairman Yoo Si-min and Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Doo-kwan of attempted coercion. Beopse-ryeon claimed that Yoo and Kim called former Dongyang University President Choi Sung-hae, demanding that he give favorable testimony regarding Cho Kuk's wife, former Dongyang University Professor Jung Kyung-shim, and filed a complaint in December 2020.
The prosecution also closed another case filed by the civic group "Association of Bar Exam Candidates for the Preservation of the Judicial Examination" in 2019, which accused former Dongyang University Professor Jung Kyung-shim of threats and coercion, citing insufficient evidence and ruling "no charges." Previously, the prosecution had also dismissed charges in a case where Beopse-ryeon accused former Pusan National University President Jeon Ho-hwan of dereliction of duty and other charges for not canceling Cho Min's admission amid allegations of admission fraud in December 2019 (Refer to Asia Economy article dated December 29, 2021, "Pusan National University President Cleared of Charges for Refusing to Cancel Cho Min's Admission").
