Instead of a Kickoff Ceremony, a Mini Concert... LG Energy Solution's Unique New Year Celebration Kwon Young-soo, Vice Chairman of LG Energy Solution

[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] LG Energy Solution announced organizational culture innovation measures on the 3rd, the first working day of the new year. Instead of a formal opening ceremony, the company started the new year with employee-participatory events such as a mini concert and screen golf.

The company presented the "Six Major Tasks for Building a Happy Organizational Culture," which include ▲a reporting and meeting culture focused on core matters ▲a flexible work culture focused on performance ▲a horizontal culture for free communication ▲a positive culture full of gratitude and praise ▲enjoyable workplace activities managing employees' health and psychology ▲a culture of sharing with neighbors. The company explained that these measures aim to eliminate obstacles to performance and create an environment where employees feel safe and can concentrate on their work.

This initiative was decided after Vice Chairman Kwon Young-soo, who was appointed CEO last November, visited workplaces for two months and met with the junior board mainly composed of young employees to listen to their opinions. In his New Year video message, Vice Chairman Kwon said, "Our goal is to become a company trusted and loved by customers, and the most important customers of the company are the employees themselves," adding, "We will strive harder to make this a company where employees want to come to work and enjoy working."

Accordingly, the company decided to unify employee honorifics to ‘nim’ starting this year, including for Vice Chairman Kwon. The fully flexible work system, which allows employees to freely set their own commuting hours, was also fully implemented. In addition, the company operates one day each month without executives or team leaders and established a principle of written reporting to minimize unnecessary face-to-face reports and meetings.

Along with this, the headquarters will operate in-house rest areas and massage rooms, and utilize healing and cultural programs such as meditation, yoga, and one-day classes. To establish a culture of challenge, the company plans to introduce a system that rewards ‘meaningful failures.’ Vice Chairman Kwon stated, "The healthy body and mind of all members are the highest value and an irreplaceable goal to become a company loved by customers," and added, "I hope that this year all members can shout, ‘Hey, work is fun!’"
