Providing a Pleasant Living Environment, Aiming to Enhance Urban Landscape
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) will implement the 'LED Signboard Installation Support Project' starting from the 1st to alleviate the economic burden on small business owners struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, remove illegal advertisements, and improve the urban landscape.
This project aims to improve advertisements that damage the urban aesthetics, such as old and illegal signboards that have been disorderly proliferating, to enhance the street appearance and secure safety, thereby providing residents with a pleasant living environment and creating a high-quality urban landscape.
Over the past three years (2019?2021), the district has supported a total of 1,157 businesses in installing eco-friendly LED signboards through the LED signboard support project, creating a pleasant urban landscape and somewhat reducing the economic burden on small business owners facing difficulties due to COVID-19 by subsidizing the installation costs of LED signboards.
The support targets new and existing small business owners with business premises under 133㎡ (40 pyeong) who intend to remove illegal advertisements and install LED signboards compliant with regulations. Installation costs will be supported up to a maximum of 800,000 KRW per business (any excess to be borne by the advertiser) for 400 businesses.
A district official stated, "We hope that this project, which is being implemented again this year following last year to support small business owners struggling due to COVID-19, will serve as a valuable stepping stone to revitalize the local commercial district, which has been stagnant due to the economic downturn."
The district plans to continue promoting signboard installation support projects in the future, installing high-efficiency signboards to save energy and create a pleasant urban landscape, thereby establishing a proper advertising culture.
